Imodium (Loperamide) dosage. Imodium is usually taken immediately after each loose bowel movement, though it’s sometimes taken on a schedule for chronic diarrhea. Dosage is based on your condition and response to treatment. In children, a dosage is also based on age and weight. Adults should not use more than 8 milligrams (mg) in a 24-hour period if self-treating or 16 mg if under a doctor’s supervision.
